Work from home vs Work from office in IT jobs

The concept of Work from home has gained huge popularity specially during the covid times. Most of the companies has to suddenly change their working mode as work from home, due to the impact of covid-19 . To know about the difference between work from home and work from office we has to look through two perceptions, the employee perception and the company’s perception. Because there will be huge difference between either of theirs perceptions due to several factors which impact them.

DIFFERENCE BETWEEN WORK FROM HOME VS WORK FROM OFFICE:

Employees productivity: In case of Work from home(WFH), the employees are used to their home place which will boost up their energy and increases employees productivity. In case of work from office, most of the employees lack their motivation on their way of journey to the office but some are used for work from office.

Time: In case of work from home, the employees they do not have fix time they can do it after lunch before lunch anytime but they have to finish the work with a certain period of time. But in case of work from office they have specific time boundation so within that time they have to finish their own work.

Financial factor: In work from home, employees can save their money. Not only the employees but also for the company they also can save a lot as most of the employees work from homes it can help the company to save their working costs, maintenance cost-and power. But in case of work from office, employees travelling expenses and also puts lot of effort in office.

Fresher’s guidance: A drawback in case of work from home is that when a fresher is hired he cant looked after the trained employees. The fresher has to learn all the work virtually. So he may not perform well in some works. In case of work from office the fresher has been up under a trainer where he can get good knowledge of work practically .

Communication channels: In case of work from home sometimes wifi or internet issue can be found hence can effect the company’s work and also effects the performance of the business. In case of work from office, there would be proper communication or discussion hence can help the work to grow and can be done easily.

Team building: In work from home it can not be easy to build a team and manage them virtually. In the work from office the Manager can easily lead and can find any flaws and rectify them.

Team coordination: In case of work from home it is very difficult to coordinate the team . As some of them will be offline some are online so it is difficult to manage virtually. In case of work from office all the team members will be gathered at free times and spend their together which improves team coordination.

When we compare either of the working concepts work from home has many drawbacks than that of work from office. Office work can be done properly at office only somehow it cannot be done at home as it can create many disturbances from family. Though work from home has many flexibility.

Android app vs Website

In today’s world everything has become digital, we can get everything with just a single touch. Similarly in terms of business as well the companies now try to build strategy based on the digital presence. The more digital presence of a company the more recognized the brand becomes. So, in order to gain the digital presence, the companies have two options, either use a simple mobile app or create a website which is accessible for everyone, some use both of them to gather more traffic.

The way users browse the internet has considerably changed, earlier people used to check the websites but now more people are using apps. In case of apps there are two options presently IOS and Android, but mostly we would find around 60% - 70% people using android phones. In relation to this companies decide which strategy they should follow to have more growth. As per the trends the internet usage in websites have decreased over the years with android apps gradually increasing their share. Apps have become a basic necessity for the users as people spend more than 50% of their time on mobiles.

Even though the mobile apps have gained lot of popularity there are certain advantages of a website.

  •  Websites are instantly available for all kinds of users, be it a android user, ios user or even a java user like the earlier days. Anyone can access the websites with just a simple internet connection. On the other hand, apps require them to be downloaded from the app store and then install it on the mobile.
  • Websites are compatible with any set of devices, be it a laptop or an android phone or an ios phone whereas the apps are native to the platform. Only android apps can be installed in an android phone. We cannot use an ios app in a android phone.
  • In terms of updating content, we can update any content faster. We just need to publish the changes in the website and users can immediately view the changes whereas in case of android apps, the update is pushed to the users and they have to either manually make the update or keep the setting as automatically. Unless the app is updated no user can see the updated content.
  • The links of the website can easily be shared in an email, in a simple page, Facebook, or in any social media, whereas in case of android apps, publishers have to send a link to app store and then users have to download and then install it.
  • One of the major talking point is the support and maintenance required for app and websites. If we consider the websites, it requires considerably less cost than a simple android app to maintain the content.

Although with the above points mobile apps do have advantages over the websites.

  • An app can be personalized as per the need of its user. For example, the banking apps provide great features for the users rather than the websites.
  • An android phone is an open-source phone, where we can install anything as per the need. Apps are visually great and entice the users more due to the various elements and features present in the app.
  • Nowadays, apps are so fast we can get any loan without going to a bank. All the important documents can be shared securely over the app.
  • One of the major advantage of an app are the push notifications. A user if registers themselves on an ecommerce app can get notifications if any new brands or products have been launched or any other notifications as compared to websites this feature is not available.
  • There are certain apps which do not require internet connection to use, which makes it more appealing.
  • Android app store provides a large number of gaming apps which the young generation install in their phones and pass their time which is not possible on a website.

As a whole, the discussion between an app vs website will carry on for long but it depends on the business on which approach they take to achieve their goals. There are advantages and disadvantages in both of them so as per the direction of the company they want to move they can choose it wisely.

The next big thing ChatGPT

ChatGPT is a chatbot developed by OpenAI and released in November 2022, it comes from the GPT family of OpenAI. Here GPT stands for Generative Pre-trained Transformer, as suggested from the name it is a pre trained bot and comes with learning techniques. As AI is the next future of our world a lot of focus is put on AI and developing it.

In simple terms you can say ChatGPT is a google alternative but compared to google where when we search anything it gives us a list of websites whereas in ChatGPT we get a detailed response and very articulated answers across various domains. Though it seems to be very interesting as it is considered to be the next big thing it is just a prototype. It has certain drawbacks as there were uneven discrepancy in the responses.

In order to train the AI, human trainers were used in both sides such as users and an AI assistant. The conversations were then provided to the model which then improved its supervised learning. In another learning called reinforcement learning, the responses from the previous conversations were ranked. The ranked responses were then fed to the AI as reward models which were then fine tuned with the help of PPO which is called Proximal Policy Optimization. Apart from the above approaches OpenAI gathers data from the users of ChatGPT so that the AI can be fine tuned and trained. Users are asked for feedback on the improvements required, drawbacks present and also provide information on the best features.

Certain features of the ChatGPT are

· It can compose music on its own

· It can write and debug computer programs

· Write essays, fairy tales

· Answer test questions

· Behave similarly as a Linux system

ChatGPT tries to remove harmful and incorrect responses, the AI tries to gather information of the topic which has been asked and then as per the correct results it provides a detailed analysis of the search. There is also an API present which restricts ChatGPT to provide results on racial prompts or sexual prompts.

In December 2022, it is said that more than 1 million people use ChatGPT and are very happy with the results but with every invention there are drawbacks as well. It is said that as there is human intervention in the training so there can be over optimization of the AI and thus can cause disruptions in the performance. It has been mentioned that any answers from ChatGPT can be trusted or not. Some even found that ChatGPT can be used to create malwares and write phishing emails which can hamper security. There are people who were able to bypass the content policy present in ChatGPT which is harmful to the chatbot itself.

From the earlier times it has been seen that with every invention there were negative reviews so it does not change for ChatGPT as well. A lot of journalists have tested it and provided the negative feedback. OpenAI is working on it as it considers it to be a path breaking which can revolutionise the way we currently use internet. So, there is more focus in fine tuning ChatGPT and hope it will become worthy of its hype.

Digital Marketing Course – Online Vs Offline

Digital Marketing is the next thing for the companies, without marketing a business does not prosper. Hence digital marketing has become a pillar for the growth of a company. This has also increased the excitement in the learning individuals to study digital marketing as it gives more scope and is the need of the hour for bug companies. Many courses have been created to teach digital marketing by colleges and institutes in both online and offline modes. The courses have been garnering lot of interest from everyone in the sector but the next stumble block for the learning people is the learning mode. That is if they should prefer online classes or offline classes. There are both positives and negatives for the modes of classes but it eventually depends on the person on how to proceed.

Let’s see the positives of learning digital marketing in a online class.

· Learning online gives the flexibility of use of time and does not depend on the location from where the person will study. So, the people who are working professionals or are indulged in certain day to day work can opt this mode of learning as they do not have to go to any institute and invest the time as per their convenience.

· Good for professionals who already have basic knowledge on digital marketing as they can opt for a particular course as there are large number of courses available online. This helps them to manage their time.

· As the lectures in the course can be recorded, this helps the individual to go through the lecture again and again or if the lectures are missed, one can go through the lecture at a later time.

With the positives there are negatives as well.

· In online classes the doubt clearance section is limited and sometimes people miss those times due to some other work. Thus, makes it difficult to solve the queries.

· The online classes require high speed internet, if the internet is slow then the lectures can get stuck or buffer at an important topic discussion.

· The online classes are slightly more expensive than the offline classes.

Now if we talk about the positives of offline classes, we can get the below points.

· The learning curve is shorter as compared to online classes as the learners are in direct guidance of a trainer and in case of any queries or doubts, they can clear them by physically discussing with them reducing the time taken in online where everything is done via email.

· In offline classes people get to interact with other students and professionals which makes them learn different experiences. Each person brings their own perspective and the challenges faced which creates a healthy discussion.

· The fees of offline classes are affordable.

With the positives, the negatives are

· Offline classes are location dependent as the person has to spend money and time to reach the institute. If the students are not from the same town, then they have to relocate and live near the institutes.

· Classes are longer so this can be a problem for some who cannot invest more time on the classes due to other commitments.

So, it can be said that both the mode of classes have their pros and cons but it depends on the individuals to choose the mode as per the preference and feasibility.
